1. Your vehicle must be equipped with Wired CarPlay and come with a standard USB port.

2. Carlinkit 3.0 is only available for iPhones running ios 10+. Carlinkit 4.0 is compatible with both iPhone and Android smartphones.

Our adapter has WiFi and Bluetooth hardware. It connects with Bluetooth and sends the WiFi credentials to the phone, then disconnects from the Bluetooth network. It works solely on WiFi from that point on.

1. Plug the iPhone (running IOS 10 or newer) directly into the car via a USB cable and check whether Carplay is displayed on the car screen.

1. Performance

Version Carlinkit 2.0 is with 5.8G HZ certification module, has higher adaptability for 98% of vehicle models.

Carlinkit 3.0 is just the code name of a software update version.

Currently, Carlinkit 2.0 and Carlinkit 3.0 are the same. It only supports iPhone for Carplay.

Carlinkit 4.0 is an upgraded version of Carlinkit 3.0. It is compatible with both iPhone and Android smartphones.

2. Appearance

Version 2.0 is with indicator light design, which 1.0 does not. 

The cables and adapters of version 2.0 are detachable, while version 1.0 is integrated and undetachable.Carlinkit 3.0 is available in black and white. Carlinkit 4.0 is navy blue.

Carlinkit2.0/ 3.0 works on all iPhone 6 and above, IOS 10 and above version.

Carlinkit 4.0 is compatible with both iPhone (iPhone 6 and above, IOS 10 and above version) and Android smartphones (Android 9.0 and above, some require Android 11.0 and above version, e.g. Huawei).

The phone will not charge if it's not connected to the USB port or placed on a wireless charger. This is a product that allows you to wirelessly play CarPlay. And plugging in the USB on the other end of the cable of the Carlinkit so you can still use it for other things (charging, radar, etc.).

This is a problem with communication protocol. BMW's head unit system is not unified with other car's head unit systems, so there is no way to be compatible. All BMW's wireless converters are always separate, and they are not suitable for adapters of other models.
